Class Description:
Combining Ratting & Nose Work Class: A Fun and Engaging Experience for All Levels
If you're looking for a class that blends two exciting canine activities, then a Ratting & Nose Work combined class is a perfect choice! Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience with scent work, this class is designed to be enjoyable and challenging for dogs and handlers alike. Let's dive into what makes this class special and why it's a fantastic option for you and your dog.
What is Ratting?Ratting is a dog sport that simulates the traditional task of hunting or controlling vermin. It’s a unique way to tap into your dog’s natural instincts, helping them use their scenting abilities to track down and "find" hidden rat-like targets in a controlled, safe environment. Often done indoors or within a contained space, rats (or similar scent targets) are placed inside tubes or other structures, and the dog is tasked with locating and alerting their handler to the presence of the target.
Ratting is not just fun; it also provides mental stimulation and a great way for dogs to build focus and confidence.
What is Nose Work?Nose Work, on the other hand, is a growing canine sport that involves scent detection work. Similar to professional scent detection dogs, your dog will use their nose to locate specific scents hidden in various areas, such as boxes, rooms, or outdoor spaces. It’s an ideal way to engage your dog’s natural olfactory abilities and can be done both indoors and outdoors.
This activity is especially beneficial for dogs that are energetic or need mental stimulation. It's a low-impact sport, making it suitable for dogs of all ages and fitness levels, and it helps build a strong bond between you and your dog through shared problem-solving and fun challenges.
Class Size: 8 students or less
