Urban Dog class is a new class created by Mary Finlayson. In this course you will be teaching your dog stronger more difficult skills in public. If you like to travel and take your dog everywhere, this is a great class for you. Classes will be held in down town concord on the busy sidewalks, on out door patios of restaurants and in busy stores that allow dogs. This class is a higher skilled class than Canine Good Citizen, however you do not need to take the CGC class before you take Urban Dog.

You will be teaching your dog to:
- Wait for your command before crossing the road on a leash
- To walk calmly through congested areas without pulling or jumping
- Hold the sit and down command for longer periods of time with more distractions
- To lay on a mat while owners are eating/socializing on a restaurant patio
- Heel on both the right and left side of your body. This enables you to maneuver easily through crowds and traffic. It will allow you to position your dog further from a distraction, Example: people eating at a table, food on the ground, bikes, barking dogs, skate boards and other fast-moving objects or people that are encountered on sidewalks.
Requirements for class
- Urban Dog class is a course in which requires a good amount of walking so owners and dogs should be fit enough to participate.
- Class will last for generally and hour and will end with a restaurant visit where food/drinks can be ordered
- Your dogs will be in close contact with other dogs/ people in congested areas. All dogs who attend must not be people/dog aggressive.
- All dogs should be familiar with the skills taught in Level I
- If your dog is very excitable and a bit out of control, consider taking the Canine Good Citizen class first.
- Class times/date can be changed if weather does not permit class on the scheduled date/time. In most cases class will be postponed to the following week at the same day and time.
