Meet April
Healthy Pets NH is owned and operated by April Begosh. April is a lifelong pet owner whose pets have included dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, turtles and even snakes. She has lived with dogs for over 30 years and has spent time volunteering at a local dog rescue.
Licensed as a massage therapist since 1995, April has extensive experience working with both humans and animals to help manage a variety of issues, both physical and mental. She is also a certified Reiki II Practitioner.
April started Healthy Pets NH in 2009 with the aim of providing pet owners with training and education in emergency and wellness care for pets. She is certified through Pet Tech, the only international company that exists exclusively to provide training in CPR, First Aid and care for pets to pet owners and pet professionals. The Pet Tech™ Instructor Training is a comprehensive, three-day, interactive program where instructors learn the necessary skills and teaching methods to properly train pet owners in first aid and care.
April is also a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer and Master Trainer through the comprehensive program offered by The University of Tennessee and FitPAWS®. The CCFT Program provides an overview of the regulatory issues involved in this field of practice, canine anatomy and physiology, behavior, nutrition, first aid and emergency procedures, and an overview of pharmacology and pharmacologic precautions. An emphasis is placed on prevention and care of athletic injuries, canine strength and conditioning, therapeutic modalities, and assessment of fitness.
Beyond her own education and experience, April draws from the knowledge and experience of other local vets, dog trainers/behaviorists, groomers, bodyworkers and nutritionists to create activities and classes that encourage a bond with our pets that is based on respect and understanding. April’s goal is to create better relationships between animals and humans through the proper education of both species.
